We have now finished for our summer holidays. We hope you all have a safe and happy break and can’t wait to carry on blogging in September when our new school year starts. Thank you to everyone who has visited and commented on our school blogs over the last year. I wonder what digital technologies you might come across over the summer…

Posting to Class Blogs

9 07 2015

imageIn our after school club meeting today we started blogging children’s work on to some of the class blogs. We thought about the tips we wrote a few weeks ago. Using an iPod, we took images and uploaded them into class blogs. Here are some examples of ones we did on Class 3 and Class 6‘s blogs. How do you think we’ve done?

Digital Technology at Jodrell Bank

8 07 2015

Heidi went to Jodrell Bank and used PicCollage to display all of the examples of digital technology she found. She made this at home and emailed it in to school so it could be shared and blogged.

Here is our presentation from our KidsMeet with other Heywood Digital Leaders today. We worked in twos on the three different sections of our presentation, wrote our scripts and prepared our slides along with the transitions for Challenge 5.

2Simple Platform Games

6 07 2015

Today at the Kidsmeet we used PurpleMash from 2Simple to design and make our own simple platform games. There are some screen shots below, but you can play all of the games by visiting the Heywood Digital Leader blog. Don’t forget to evalauate the games. Leave a comment with a positive comment about what you liked and a suggestion about how you think it could be improved.

Our 6th Digital Leader Challenge, by Rebecca

3 07 2015

I have enjoyed going into classrooms and helping younger children with their ICT work or putting their work on the blog. I think this year I have improved on my knowledge of different apps and being confident using them. In my role as a Digital Leader, in the future I would like to improve on my skills of helping other children and explaining it clearly. I think that the most challenging thing I have done as a Digital Leader would be using all the apps Mrs Atherton has taught us to use. Next year I would like to go into lots of lessons and teach other children how to use the apps and software Mrs Atherton has taught us.

Challenge 6, by Heidi

3 07 2015

I have enjoyed learning about new apps and I have improved using iPads and computers. When I am in year six I would like to improve being more helpful when I teach the children. Learning new apps has been a little hard because the first time you do something it is a little hard especially new apps, commenting I have found easy because it was the first thing I learnt properly as a digital leader. In year six I would like to learn about a lot if new apps and software.

Emily’s 6th Digital Leader Challenge

3 07 2015

First of all, I have enjoyed going into classrooms and helping children use apps and also helping teachers with their lessons using Morfo pretending to be imaginary characters. Since I started being a digital leader, I think I have improved on computers because at first I was only really good on iPad and iPods but not computers but now I am good at good on computers as well. I am really confident at using computers now and would happily help anyone who needed help. When I am in year six I would like to improve further on being quicker on my Challenges and not always be on the last minute because it is not very organised. Being a digital leader I have found a lot of things tricky, especially when it came to cracking codes and making codes I was useless. The thing I found easiest was picking up new apps quickly because I have a very good memory so I can remember how you use them. Next year as a digital leader I would like to go into more classrooms to help children.

Challenge 6 – My Digital Leader Journey So Far, by Grace

3 07 2015

I have leant how to use lots of different apps and I am confident in supporting other people how to use them. The thing I need to improve on the most is to not take over when I am supporting other children with apps. This is the thing that I have found the most challenging as a Digital Leader. The thing that I found the easiest was using PicCollage. As a year 6 Digital Leader I am looking forward to helping the teachers use ICT in their lessons.

Challenge 6 – by Talitha

3 07 2015

Most of all I have enjoyed learning about new apps, software, and hardware because I didn’t realise there were so many different and interesting apps available for free. the skills I have improved on when becoming a digital leader are the fact that I have learnt how to use lots of interesting apps, becoming a digital leader has helped me build my confidence with speaking in front of a large amount of people. I would like to get better at evaluating apps, software and hardware because sometimes I need to learn more about the thing I am evaluating before I evaluate it. The things I have found challenging most of all is teaching younger children how to use different technology because sometimes I don’t understand the fact they don’t know how to do all the things that I do. Next year as a digital leader I would like to meet up more with the other digital leaders.

Challenge 6 – Reflection by Caitlin

3 07 2015

The thing that I have enjoyed most is helping the year one’s with their creations on pic-collage. I need to improve on is my knowledge of apps and software. To become a better digital leader I would like to improve on my skills on how I teach younger children new apps. Recently I have found phoetic and pic-collage easy but when it came to cracking codes I got a bit stuck. In the future I would like to learn more apps.

Mr. Mayoh’s Sixth Challenge!

1 07 2015

This week our sixth challenge was set by Mr. Mayoh on the Heywood Digital Leaders Blog. We had to reflect on the last two months and the start of our journey as Digital Leaders. We needed to consider the following…

What have you enjoyed most about being a Digital Leader?
What skills do you think you have improved by becoming a Digital Leader?
What would you like to improve further in order to be an even better Digital Leader?
What have you found challenging about being a Digital Leader? What has been easy?
Are there any specific things you would like to do next year as Digital Leaders?

Can you reflect on your journey so far and add a post to our blog?
